If you remember little Nicholas, he was the baby we brought to Amanda's starfish home from the orphanage. I carried him home in the taxi and watched as he took everything around him in, as well as downing 8 oz of milk in no time. He is my Wise Chinese scholar. I felt such strength and greatness in him. He is fighting for his life right now.After extensive testing Amanda has found out he has a very severe heart defect. She is taking him to a heart surgeon over 800 miles away. His surgery will be Friday morning China time (Thursday night in this hemisphere). The surgeon said this will be the most complicated surgery he's done, as Nicholas' heart has multiple problems. So I'm asking that we all add our collective faith and prayers in behalf of this little guy.
Please pray for Nicholas, that he'll be strong enough to withstand the surgery, and the long trip there.
Pray for Amanda that she will be strengthened and feel the inspiration of Heaven
Pray for Dr. Li that his mind and his abilities will be expanded to perform this difficult surgery successfully.

Thank you for the post and email about Nicholas. I have a soft spot for these little heart boys!
A wise GA quoted this scripture in April General Conference:
"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart" Psalm 34:18
I know the meaning is meant to be spiritually, but I also beleive it to be physically. It has proven true for my son.
We will keep Nicholas in our prayers that he will have strength for both the travel as well as the surgery, Amanda that she can be strengthened, and Dr. Li that he will be inspired to perform a surgery that can heal Nicholas.

We'll be keeping your little guy in our thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery. I know it's a tough one and our prayers are with Dr. Li as he goes to fix little Nicholas' heart - I've seen miracle after miracle happen with heart surgeries and I'm praying for one for Nicholas.
Oh my, I so wish I could be there to hold and rock him.
I'll do what little I can and say a prayer for him.
